Alumni WPC beats 3 of the top college programs in the country to take the Summer League Championship

Alumni Water Polo Club played in the 2018 Pacific Coast League all summer.  The League culminated with its Championship Tournament Saturday and Sunday, July 28th and 29th at the beautiful University of California, Davis Schaal Aquatic Center in Davis, CA.  Alumni WPC went 3-0 through the weekend to win the all-important collegiate dominated Pacific Coast League Championship.

Blake Edwards USC played an integral role for Alumni WPC all weekend and he his brother Lachlan Edwards USC led all scorers with 10 goals.

In what proved to be an easy victory for Alumni WPC over San Jose State University.  Alumni WPC's offense was firing on all cylinders from the first minute.  Former University of Southern California Trojans led the offense seeing Blake Edwards lead all scorers with 4 goals, his brother Lachland Edwards and Andrew Reego each added 3 of their own and centers Jeremy Davie tallied 2 and Max Mendoza 1.  Alumni WPC ran away with this one early and did not relent much finishing with a solid 15-6 win.

Cristiano Mirarchi UCLA was Alumni WPC's defensive rock having to do it all throughout the 3 hard games.

The second game of the day seemed to be equally dominant for Alumni WPC.  At half, Alumni WPC led comfortably at 9-4.  But the University of California, San Diego did not give up so easily.  With the help of a plethora of questionable calls throughout the second half, UCSD made a strong push.  All scoring came from former USC Trojans.  Blake Edwards again led all scorers with 4, Andrew Reego added another 3, and the former NCAA All-American centers Jeremy Davie and Lachlan Edwards each netted 2.  The game was a lot closer than it should have been, but the outcome was never in doubt as Alumni WPC advanced to the Championship with a 11-10 final score.

Andrew Reego helped his Alumni WPC win its first ever Pacific Coast League Championship.

On day two, Alumni WPC faced the home team the University of California, Davis for the Championship.  In an eerily similar game to the one before, Alumni WPC was established a solid lead early.  Again it saw a commanding advantage at half up 8-3.  But for the second game in a row, the college teams were not so easily defeated.  UCD was relentless on the counter attack praying on every mistake or referee decision offensively by Alumni WPC and brought the game to within 1.  Fortunately, Blake Edwards had the answer on one of his own counter attacks, as Andrew Reego hit him in the hand for his put away to put the game away.  Lachlan Edwards was phenomenal with 5 goals helping Alumni WPC win the Championship 11-10 just like the game before.
